A Program with Vice Admiral Herman A. Shelanski, Naval Inspector General
Vice Admiral Shelanski is the 40th Naval Inspector General, assuming these duties on 15 May, 2015. The Inspector General is tasked with inquiring into all matters of importance to the Department of the Navy; investigating and inspecting to uncover the truth; advocating for quality of life for Sailors, Marines, Civilians and Family; and promoting efficiency, effectiveness and readiness to maintain our Maritime Superiority.
Originally from Wynnewood, PA, he is a second generation American descended from Lithuanian Jews. Although, being in the Navy is a secular career he has continued to follow his faith with Torah Dedications, Jewish Services and Holidays onboard Aircraft Carriers.
